Cyber Security

Apr 14 2021

SfP take the security of information very seriously and have had a rigorous information and security  framework in place for many years. We have now gone one step further and have been working towards attaining the government recognised certification and are delighted to announce that SfP has achieved its Gold IASME Governance (with Cyber Essentials Plus & GDPR).
What does this mean? We have had to go through rigorous security audits to ensure we maintain secure technical infrastructure and practices annually. These standards are authorised by government bodies and are commonly required by public authorities and organisations.
This governance standard, Information Assurance for Small to Medium-sized Enterprises (IASME) is designed as a security benchmark for SMEs. It is a recognised alternative to the international standard, ISO 27001.
Gold IASME Governance (Cyber Essentials & GDPR) audit.
Simply put, this is IASME’s highest level of certification and provides assurance that the level of cyber security provided by Software for People has been audited by an authorised, highly skilled, independent third-party.
It is an award showing that an organisation’s achievement in cyber and information security is in line with industry expectations.
Cyber Essentials
Cyber Essentials is the starting point of the benchmark against The IASME Governance Standard.
It is the UK Government’s answer to a safer internet space for organisations of all sizes, across all sectors. Developed and operated by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), Cyber Essentials is considered the best first step to a more secure network, protecting you from 80% of the most basic cyber security breaches.

Software for People has gone one step further and attained Cyber Essentials Plus which is the highest level of certification offered under the Cyber Essentials scheme. It is a more rigorous test of our organisation’s cyber security systems in comparison to Cyber Essentials, where cyber security experts carry out vulnerability tests to make sure that our organisation is protected against basic hacking and phishing attacks.

The basic principle of The IASME Governance Standard ‘know what you are protecting and understand its relative value to its subjects and therefore the impact of a security breach’ encapsulates and supports the legal requirement of GDPR. This way, protective measures have been verified to be put in place which counterbalance the routes to recovery after an incident.
